I have a comment on the previous entry:

Yech.

What a paltry, whining piece of exposition. I despise myself when I whine about my finances, alternating with boasts about famous people my dead kinfolk knew.

I have an excuse. I was sick.

'Zaziel's Cure for the Common Cold*

Mix in equal parts:

1. Fresca or diet Sunkist Soda
2. Langers Diet Cranberry Cocktail (27% juice)
3. Some kind of citrus juice, like fresh-squeezed orange juice or Minute Maid's Orange Passion (a blend of orange, guava, and passion fruit juices)

Drink lots of it.

Drink lots of water.

Pee a lot and let your nose run. (Ewww!)

Wipe your nose with something very soft. Stay away from any kind of paper, even tissues. An old, much-washed (no dyes or fragrance in your detergent, I hope) raggedy t-shirt, 100% cotton, is a good choice.

No decongestants! You want the infection flushed out of your body. So no alcohol either, it'll just dehydrate you.

Mentholated cough drops at the first sign of a scratchy throat, and keep sucking on 'em. Buy the big bag. You can't OD on menthol.

Rest. Totally. Don't do anything, except drip and blow and pee. (Ewww!)

You're allowed to read books, watch TV, and sleep.

Live in your bed. Alone. Don't be giving your nasty bugs to your best beloveds.

Your cold will be gone in 3 days.
